Description
Diamond detectors are uniquely suited for particle beam diagnostics, due to their radiation hardness, thermal resistivity and mechanical robustness. The electronic properties of this detector material offer the possibility of particle counting up to a frequency of 1 GHz and a they provide a linear response to particle fluences over 9 orders of magnitude. Recent results in neutron beams have shown that diamond detectors enable efficient neutron detection and the possibility of background rejection. The basic principles of signal creation in diamond detectors will be introduced. Different applications in charged particle, X-ray and neutron beams will be discussed before the available CIVIDEC beam diagnostic systems will be presented
