Description
Plasma science and technology has been of major importance over the past years for the understanding and development of processes and materials for a wide range of applications. Argon plasma is used to sputter solid and dissociate reactive gas like oxygen leading to the formation of functional oxide materials. The photocatalytic activity of TiO2 is utilized in the solar cell industry, for wastewater treatment and for bactericidal applications. ZnO serves as a transparent conductive coating. The metal-insulator property of VO2 at ~68 °C makes it useful as a thermo-optical switch.
