Description
Flavor physics plays a major role in the quest for New Physics. Studying a specific class of rare weak processes is particularly appealing as they open the possibility to probe energy scales well above those reached in high-energy colliders. The current and future flavor experiments will improve the current experimental sensitivity, thus offering new opportunities to discover New Physics through precision measurements. After a brief introduction to the flavor physics program, I will discuss two topics that received a lot of attention in the particle physics community: (i) the observed hints of Lepton Flavor Universality Violation (LFUV) in B-meson decays, and (ii) the search of light pseudoscalar bosons, a.k.a. axion-like particles (ALP), through flavor observables. I will first discuss these problems by means of the Effective Field Theories (EFT). I will then construct concrete scenarios that can accommodate the B-anomalies while remaining consistent with a whole plethora of experimental data.
