Description
The main scientific activities of Institute of Applied Physics - Nyzhny Novgorod - Russia (500 scientists) will be presented. Applications and development of Gyro-devices (High frequency, high power microwave generators) invented in the Institute will be shortly presented. The Ion Source Service from LPSC and the IAP are in collaboration since many years and particularly since 3 years in the frame of a ‘Programme International de Collaboration Scientifique’ dedicated to the development of pulsed ion beams, jointly funded by CNRS and Russian Fundation for Basic Research. LPSC and IAP are now collaborating within the frame of the EURO-nu FP7 programme for the study of different schemes to produce neutrino beams in Europe and are developing a new collaboration with International Science and Technology Center. The recent experimental and theoretical research carried out at the Laboratory of Applied Plasma Physics of IAP Russian Academy of Science resulted in the development of a new type of pulsed Electron Cyclotron Resonance multicharged ion sources– gasdynamic ECR ion sources (ReGIS). It will be demonstrated that such sources are capable of generating high-current and high-brightness ion beams with a moderate ion charge.
