Description
The DAMIC-M (DArk Matter In CCDs at Modane) experiment will search for dark matter particles  with an array of large-size charge-coupled devices (CCDs) at the Modane Underground Laboratory (LSM). Our CCDs allow the detection of nuclear and electronic recoils deposited by dark matter particles in the silicon bulk with single-electron resolution, which reduces the energy threshold down to only two electrons or 10 eV. I will describe this novel CCD, our efforts to build the ultra-low background detector and very recent results of calibration measurements and a prototype detector currently taking data at LSM and exploring dark matter candidates of the so-called hidden sector.
