Description

The deficiencies of the Standard Model (SM) has continually guided the search for new physics. In the absence of any direct evidence, it is beneficial to conduct analyses on distinct BSM proposals against a common backdrop. Among contemporary approaches, a framework that provides us with the appropriate set of tools for such analyses is that of Effective Field Theories (EFTs).

The aim of the talk is twofold. First, to highlight a step by step algorithm for assembling effective operators for SMEFT (and beyond) for arbitrary mass dimensions and whose internal symmetry can be described in terms of unitary, orthogonal and symplectic Lie groups. Secondly, to describe a diagrammatic approach towards outlining the relations between operators in EFT and the corresponding ultraviolet roots. The discussion will focus on the generalizability and utility of such procedures in conducting comparative analyses between new physics proposals.
