Unravelling the nature of dark matter is a primary frontier of contemporary particle astrophysics. The CRESST experiment, located deep underground at the Laboratori Nazionali del Gran Sasso, aims to directly detect dark matter particles via elastic scattering off nuclei in cryogenic scintillating crystals. By achieving unprecedented nuclear recoil thresholds below 10 eV, CRESST offers world-leading sensitivity to the sub-GeV mass regime. This seminar will review the operational principles of the CRESST low-threshold cryogenic detectors, present recent constraints on low-mass dark matter, and outline future perspectives for the experiment.
