gamma-hadrons correlation in pp collisions at square root of s = 7 TeV with ALICE at the LHC
Abstract:
The Quantum ChromoDynamics, which describes the strong interaction, predicts a phase transition from the nuclear matter to a new state of matter in which the quarks and the gluons are deconfined, this is the Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP). This medium can be produced at the LHC with high energy heavy ion collisions and studied with the ALICE experiment. Various probes make the study of this QCD medium possible. The photon, who doesn't interact with the medium, gives a non biased information on the QGP. The combination of a direct photon, emitted directly by a hard process, and the recoiling jet allows to access the fragmentation function of the initial recoiling parton. The fragmentation function can be approach using gamma-hadrons correlation analysis and the associated xE distribution. In this presentation, the physics motivations for such analysis will be drawn. Then, the gamma-hadrons correlation analysis procedure will be presented along with the status of this analysis. Finally, an outlook for the next months will finalized the presentation.
