Description
In this talk I will start with a review of the merits and flaws of gauge-mediated supersymmetry breaking. This motivates some recently constructed non-minimal models of gauge mediation which can account for non-universal squark masses. In particular I will show how light third-generation squarks can be obtained by using the massive vector multiplets of a gauged horizontal symmetry as messengers for supersymmetry breaking.
