Description
We highlight some of the shortcomings of the Standard Model and
explain why we expect to find new physics around the TeV scale at the
Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. We present some well-motivated
scenarios for physics beyond the Standard Model like supersymmetry,
grand unification, new gauge symmetries, extra dimensions and string
theory, and show how our work at LPSC contributes to unraveling the
theoretical concepts behind the new phenomena that the LHC is poised
to discover.
